What is gpu-screen-recorder?
gpu-screen-recorder is a lightweight, high-performance screen recorder for Linux that offloads capture and encoding to the GPU, minimizing the performance hit compared to typical CPU-based recorders. It works on both X11 and Wayland across AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA GPUs (plus Apple Silicon via Asahi Linux with software encoding), and supports plain recording, live streaming, instant-replay clips, and screenshots. This package is the core command-line tool; a separate GTK-based GUI exists as its own project.
