What is xdg-terminal-exec?
xdg-terminal-exec is a reference implementation of a proposed freedesktop.org standard for launching a user's preferred terminal emulator, the same way xdg-open resolves a preferred browser or file handler. Instead of a script or app hard-coding a specific terminal, it calls xdg-terminal-exec and the system resolves whichever terminal the user has configured, optionally running a command inside it.
