Install Docker on Omarchy

The official route: Setup > Security > Sudoless Docker (optional).

Short answer

Docker and Docker Compose come set up on Omarchy. Run it with sudo, for example sudo docker ps or sudo docker compose up. Your user is not in the docker group by default.

Steps

  1. Docker and Docker Compose come set up on Omarchy.
  2. Run it with sudo, for example sudo docker ps or sudo docker compose up. Your user is not in the docker group by default.
  3. Open the Docker TUI with Super + Shift + D.
  4. Optional: Setup > Security > Sudoless Docker adds you to the docker group after a warning, so plain docker works without sudo.

The docker group is effectively passwordless root, which is why Omarchy leaves you out of it by default. [omarchy.org]
