What is libretro-cap32-git?

This is Caprice32 packaged as a libretro core, letting RetroArch emulate the 1980s Amstrad CPC line of home computers, including the CPC 464, 464+, 6128, 6128+ and the GX4000 console variant. It plays original tape (CDT) and disk (DSK) images with autostart support, supports period keyboard layouts and joystick/lightgun input, and can use RetroArch's shaders for CRT-style visual effects. On its own it has no interface; it's a plugin loaded by RetroArch, which provides the actual on-screen menus.

Install libretro-cap32-git on Omarchy

Good to know

  • RetroArch (or another libretro frontend) to actually run it
  • your own legally-owned Amstrad CPC game/software images, since none are bundled
