What is lmstudio-bin?
This is the same LM Studio desktop app as the source-build package, just distributed as a ready-to-run binary instead of being compiled from source at install time. It lets you discover, download, and chat with open-source language models locally through a ChatGPT-style interface, keeping all inference on your own hardware.
Install lmstudio-bin on Omarchy
$ omarchy pkg add lmstudio-binGood to know
- Enough disk space and RAM/VRAM to hold whichever local model you download
- A capable GPU (or Apple Silicon) speeds up inference but is not strictly required
- Network access only when browsing or downloading models from Hugging Face; runs fully offline afterward
