What is minecraft-launcher?
The official Minecraft Launcher is the app Mojang provides for installing, updating, and launching Minecraft: Java Edition (and linking to Bedrock Edition) on your computer. You sign in with a Microsoft account, choose a game version and modpack profile, and the launcher handles downloading and keeping the game up to date. The launcher itself is free to use, but playing the full game requires either owning Minecraft or an active Xbox Game Pass subscription; a short free trial (about 100 minutes) is available without a purchase.
