What is nvidia-580xx-dkms?

This package provides the NVIDIA 580xx-series proprietary kernel module source, built automatically against your running kernel via DKMS. It's the low-level piece that lets the Linux kernel drive an NVIDIA graphics card; the 580 branch is a current driver series used for recent GPU generations. It has no interface of its own, it just needs to be present for the matching nvidia-580xx-utils package (and your GPU) to work.
