What is supergfxctl?

supergfxctl is a background daemon and command-line client for laptops that have both an integrated GPU and a discrete Nvidia GPU. It lets you flip between Hybrid, Integrated-only, VFIO passthrough, and ASUS-specific eGPU/MUX modes so you can trade battery life for graphics power on demand. It grew out of the ASUS ROG Linux tooling but works on other hybrid-graphics laptops too.

Install supergfxctl on Omarchy

Good to know

  • A laptop with hybrid integrated/discrete (Nvidia) graphics
  • A Wayland session (X11 switching is no longer supported)
  • On ASUS models, kernel 6.1 or newer
  • Not compatible with optimus-manager or system76-power installed alongside it
